Introduction
Leave a Lasting Legacy with Bayou Park
Your support for the Bayou Park Ratepayers Association (BPRA) can extend beyond your lifetime. By including BPRA in your will, you help ensure the continued enhancement and preservation of our community for future generations. Legacy gifts, also known as bequests, are a meaningful way to leave a lasting impact on the Bayou Park community.
What is Legacy Giving?
Legacy giving, or planned giving, involves making arrangements to contribute to the BPRA in your will or estate plan. These gifts can take many forms, including a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or other assets such as securities.
Benefits of Legacy Giving
Preserve Bayou Park: Your gift helps maintain and improve the park, ensuring it remains a beautiful and safe space for all members and neighbourhood residents.
Tax Advantages: Legacy gifts can provide significant tax benefits for your estate, potentially reducing the tax burden on your loved ones.
Personal Satisfaction: Leave a lasting mark on the community you love and support.
How to Make a Legacy Gift
Decide on Your Gift: Choose the type of gift that best suits your financial situation and philanthropic goals. Options include:
Specific Bequest: Designate a specific dollar amount or asset to BPRA.
Residual Bequest: Allocate a percentage of the remainder of your estate after other specific bequests have been fulfilled.
Contingency Bequest: Make a bequest only if other named beneficiaries do not survive you.
Include BPRA in Your Will: Work with your lawyer or estate planner to include language in your will that specifies your gift to BPRA. Here are some sample wordings:
Specific Bequest: "I give, devise, and bequeath to the Bayou Park Ratepayers Association, located at 3581 Bayou Rd, Severn, Ontario, the sum of $_______ to be used for its general purposes."
Residual Bequest: "I give, devise, and bequeath to the Bayou Park Ratepayers Association, located at 3851 Bayou Rd, Severn, Ontario , ______% of the residue of my estate to be used for its general purposes."
